Media Operations and Communications Manager




The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) is seeking a Media Operations and Communications Manager to join its Communications Department at the earliest possible commencing date.


Position Description


1. Scope of the Position and Reporting Structure

The Manager contributes to the FIG’s entire range of media and communication activities. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, task-oriented individual with strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task and to work independently as well as in a team-environment. This is a full-time position within an international sports federation. The job will require some international travel and work outside standard hours is expected. Title / Function: Media Operations and Communications Manager Reports to: Senior Communications Manager Location: Lausanne, Switzerland Position: Full-time (100%), permanent Salary: Competitive Start Date: As soon as possible The job requires experience in international sports, event media operations, print-, social- and digital media publications.


2. Key Responsibilities

Media operations and relations  Work to continuously improve the standard of media operations at FIG events  Manage event media accreditation  Plan, coordinate and oversee event media and photo operations and services  Broaden relationships with the media to ensure positive communications  Organise press conferences and other media opportunities News service, publications and social media  Manage onsite event coverage, year-round sport news and social media publications  Edit and publish website, digital and social content from external content contributors  Ensure highest editorial standards with consistent form and style of official publications  Support copywriting and production of the federation’s magazine


3. General Management and Performance Guidelines

 Ensure that deadlines for work are duly and efficiently met  Conscientiously fulfill his/her duties  Put forward appropriate measures in order to improve and simplify the work  Submit to his/her superiors any issue beyond his/her authority


4. Experience and Skills Required

 5+ years of experience in event media operations and relations  Experience in international sports  Journalistic background  Experience in the production of print, digital and social media publications  University degree in communication, journalism, public relations, sport management or a related field Required languages  Fluent English speaker with working proficiency of French; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage Additional requirements  Excellent organisational and time management skills  Profound written and verbal communication skills  Flexible and proactive work approach with a strong ability to work autonomously  Comprehensive understanding of and interest in international sport events  A reliable team player with a can-do-attitude and determination to deliver quality work  Computer and digital literacy  Swiss nationality or holding a valid Swiss work permit


5. About the FIG

The International Gymnastics Federation is the governing body for Gymnastics worldwide. It is the oldest established international federation of an Olympic sport and has participated in the Olympic Games since their revival in 1896. The FIG governs eight sports: Gymnastics for All, Men's and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Trampoline - including Double Mini-trampoline and Tumbling -, Aerobics, Acrobatics, and Parkour. It counts 148 national member federations and has its headquarters in the Olympic Capital of Lausanne (SUI).
